CINCH: Capture, Ingest, & Checksum tool

CINCH: Capture, Ingest, & Checksum toolThe five project partners will develop an application that collects, ingests, and authenticates the publications and records that libraries and archives are mandated to maintain. The final product will be a light-weight, open-source software tool that libraries, archives, and agencies with similar mandates – to collect and authenticate records on ingest – can employ to retrieve and process their digital content. Staff from the State Library of North Carolina and North Carolina State Archives (together, the Department of Cultural Resources) will lead the project in partnership with the North Carolina Libraries for Virtual Education (NC LIVE), and Elon University's Belk Library and the J. Murrey Atkins Library at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte will provide both their born-digital and digitized content and expertise to test the tool and provide feedback over the course of the grant.

Cinch is currently in alpha testing. A stable version will be available no later than August, though likely well before that.
