This site was created and is maintained by the Digital Information Management Program of the State Library of North Carolina, and the Digital Services Section of the State Archives of North Carolina.
These two entities are responsible for long-term access to North Carolina state government digital publications and records, and for helping to educate state employees about best practices in digital preservation.
Creation of this site was supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the federal Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA), as administered by the State Library of North Carolina.

- To provide visitors with practical, introductory information about digital preservation, and to direct them to approachable "next step" resources.

- North Carolina state agency employees who are involved in creating or managing state records, including publications.
- Others in North Carolina and around the globe who create or manage digital materials.
